Two Eagle’s

My first trip to Alaska was in December. Why December? There is a small river that flows near a small town in Southeast Alaska called Haines. The river is the Chilkat River, and it is one of the last rivers in Alaska to freeze over. This along with a late run of salmon upstream has been discovered by the Bald Eagles of North America. The high today was around 25 degrees, and in town 20 miles away, it was continually snowing. Along with myself and one fellow photographer, we had the place to ourselves.... Well almost. Along with us there were nearly 800 eagles in the area. Everywhere you look, you see the white heads of Bald Eagles. One particular shot I have, you can count over 50 in the same frame. Overhead, I count 17 eagles in one tree. Truly an experience I'll never forget. And the solitude of this wonderful state.
