Quietly Watching from Above The wildlife refuge on Sanibel Island is a haven for bird watchers. Herons, Egrets, Pelicans, Cormorants, Anhingas, Roseatte Spoonbills, Ospreys and more fill the refuge they call home. This Red-Shouldered Hawk was out on what’s called the "Cross-pike". The place where salt water and fresh water are separated by a man-made peninsula. So each side gets a different variety of wildlife and insects. A perfect place for hawks or osprey to watch food, or in my case, watch the wildlife as the suns sets.
