Like Mountain Goats to Glacier, Geysers to Yellowstone, and Waterfalls of Yosemite, there is the Black Bear and the Great Smoky Mountains. Most all visitors that come to the Smokies would love the opportunity to see a black bear. Though few get that chance ( mainly because of timing ), the black bear population is doing quite well in the park. As a matter of fact, the park service is relocating some bears to their natural areas, such as Big South Fork, to hopefully build their population of black bears up. I caught this little fellow running up a tree and I got the photograph just as he was checking up on me.
