#0085 - Whitetail Silhouette

I got up early this morning and drove to Cades Cove in the G.S.M.N.P.. Fog had set in the cove. The dew was heavy in the fields. I drove along a side road slowing watching over the field for movement. I wasn't looking for any one thing in particular, but something picture worthy. I noticed some movement alongside some woods. Carefully getting out of my truck, I made my way through the trees and found this buck. Yes, there are many larger bucks out in the cove, but the combination of the fog, and the semi-silhouette makes for a great looking shot. I call it a semi-silhouette because you actually can see the brown tone in his antlers. You can also see his eyelashes in the picture. After all the sneaking up to get near this deer, he let me get within 25 feet of him. Many who have been out in Cades Cove say that its no big deal, but, you don't know how the deer will react. I've even been in Cades Cove and had a group of 10 bucks walk right beside me. And of course I had too long a lens on my camera. That's the breaks...
