A Look Through the Window

Arches in Bryce Canyon? Sure is. This shot was taken about 30 yards from one of the main overlooks. I came back to this particular spot at four different times of the day to get different effects from the shadows on what is called hoodoos ( the standing formations of rock ). Bryce Canyon isn't really a canyon at all, but a valley caused from erosion. As you look at the "amphitheater" you can see new hoodoos being formed from the erosion taking place around it. Oh, one last thing. The arch is actually an optical illusion. I stopped down the camera to get the most depth of field and took this shot through a hole measuring about 1 1/2 feet wide!
