A Place to Rest Springtime in Cades Cove. This is the Primitive Baptist Church, located off the main driving loop and accessed by a dirt road. Daffodils are all around. A nonnative plant brought in by the early settlers to the area to remind them of a home they once knew. As you drive around Cades Cove you will see daffodils spread around the area in a square or rectangular shape. This most probably is the perimeter of one of the many homes or buildings that were in the cove. Many homes in the Smokes were destroyed when the park opened and the flowers are the remnants of what once was. Daffodils are one of the earliest signs that spring is coming and warm weather is coming soon. A welcome sight for early settlers after a long winter.
