At the time this shot was taken, the Foothills Parkway was still under construction. A project that was abandoned a few years back has sparked some new interest. The project is to build a parkway along the boundary of the park on the Tennessee side. The land has all been acquired, but the funds for construction of the project were not there. In 1994 & 1995, a near completed section of the parkway was opened for one weekend, so visitors could drive along the route and hopefully spark some interest in completing the project. Although it was crowded, the view was spectacular and Wears Valley was in full color this one October weekend.
