Springtime in Yosemite Visiting Yosemite National Park in the 3 rd week of May, we found spring blooms all around. The Dogwood is my favorite of the flowering trees and they were quite plentiful on this visit to the park. The air was still crisp and down into the 30’s at night, but the daytime sunshine shone down sweetly on the dogwoods that sprinkled Yosemite. As pointed out to us by a park rangers, the white pedals of the dogwood are not the flower, but are bracts that serve the function of attracting pollinators to the actual flower that is the center part of the bloom. |
