Yellow Trillium It's springtime in the Great Smoky Mountains. Trillium of different variations are amount the first of the spring flowers to bloom. This is appropriately called yellow trillium. In this shot also is creeping phlox. Trillium can be found in most every area of the park. Along the road from Sugarlands Visitor Center to the Chimneys Trailhead trillium can be found in abundance. Large-leaf Trillium is probably the most abundant and painted trillium can be found as well. This particular shot was made near the Chimneys. The slopes are a little steep, but the floral display makes the effort very worth it. Phacelia also blooms well in this area, almost to the degree that it looks like snow.
