A late October day in Cataloochee. A very quite side of the Smoky Mountain National Park located on the easternmost side. This is the Palmer church located in the Cataloochee Valley. As you drive near the church you approach it from the back side. It faces a small stream that runs through the valley. There are a few more old cabins, including one called the Caldwell house. A frame house in Victorian architecture seeming out of place in the park. For a different view of the Smokes, drive to Cataloochee and see a part of the park that few people take the time to see.
